Your balance board is not just a training tool. It is your ticket to endless fun, better skills, and a whole lot of bragging rights. Whether you are chasing surf fitness, keeping the kids entertained, or just wanting to spice up your workouts, here are 10 ways to get creative and keep the stoke alive without even stepping outside.

1. Surf Style Drills

This one is a no brainer for us wave lovers. Use your board to mimic pop ups, cross steps, and smooth carving turns. Keep your shoulders and hips moving like you are on an actual wave and imagine that roller is the section you are trying to make. Play some pumping surf tunes, close your eyes, and you are basically at the beach.

2. Skate Tricks Without the Road Rash

Ollies, manuals, shuvits, all the fun without the concrete kisses. Practising on a balance board lets you focus on foot placement, timing, and style without worrying about potholes or traffic. You will still get the wobbles but that is half the fun.

3. Yoga with a Twist

Warrior pose on a moving surface? Yes, you will feel muscles you did not even know existed. Try tree pose, lunges, or a plank hold on your board and notice how much harder your core has to work. Bonus, your focus and breathing will go next level because one wobble and you are bailing.

4. Family Balance Battles

This is pure gold for rainy days. Who can stay up the longest? Who can do the silliest trick? You can even throw in challenges like one leg balancing, catching a ball, or dancing while on the board. Loser does the snack run, winner gets bragging rights until the next game.

5. Strength and Conditioning

Take your normal squats, lunges, push ups, or burpees onto the board and watch them turn into a full body challenge. Every muscle has to fire to keep you stable which means your core and legs are getting an upgrade with every rep. You will feel it tomorrow, promise.

6. Dance Practice

Because who says training has to be serious? Put on your favourite playlist and work on spins, shuffles, or just freestyle while staying balanced. It is one part coordination, one part cardio, and one part I hope nobody is filming me but it will make you better on your feet.

7. Balance and Ball Games

Throwing a ball back and forth while balancing will seriously level up your reaction time. Try switching stance every throw or catching with one hand only. Great for surfers, skaters, or anyone who wants sharper reflexes, plus it is a sneaky way to get the kids practising without them even knowing.

8. Office Break Sessions

Working from home? Swap your boring chair break for a five minute balance session every hour. It wakes up your body, resets your posture, and gets your brain firing again. Way better than doom scrolling on your phone.

9. Trick Progressions

This is where you turn into the local balance board hero. Start with front to back balance holds, then work up to pivots, 180s, cross steps, and spins. Filming yourself can help track progress and give you a little ego boost when you nail that new move.

10. Creative Filming

Speaking of filming, set up your phone and get creative. Show off your best tricks, your funniest fails, or even teach others your favourite drills. Tag us so we can see you in action and maybe even share your clips.

Keep it Fun

Your board is not meant to collect dust in the corner. Switch up your moves, challenge your mates, and try something totally weird just for a laugh. At Barefoot & Salty we have the biggest roller selection in the market with 5 cm, 8 cm, 10 cm and 15 cm rollers plus a cork ball and dome, so you can create the perfect setup for your style and skill level. And if we do not have your favourite colour, we will make it for you.
