Matching Outfits for Mums & Kids (But Make It Cool, Not Cringe)

Okay… let’s just say it.

Matching outfits can go one of two ways.

Either it’s cute, effortless and “omg where did you get that?”
Or it’s giving full family photoshoot energy where no one can breathe and dad is one second away from losing it.

We’re obviously not here for that.

This is your guide to matching outfits that actually feel like you… relaxed, salty, a little chaotic and made for real life.

So… are matching outfits actually cool?

Short answer… yes.
But only when they don’t feel forced.

The best matching outfits don’t scream “WE PLANNED THIS FOR HOURS.”

They feel like:

  • you grabbed something comfy
  • your mini grabbed something similar
  • and somehow it just works

That’s the sweet spot.

The easiest way to match without trying too hard

You don’t need identical outfits.

In fact… please don’t 😅

The vibe is:
👉 same colour palette
👉 same print
👉 same energy

Not copy paste.

Think:

  • oversized tee on you
  • mini tee or romper on them

Same print… different fit… still looks put together without being full Pinterest mum mode.

Beach day matching outfits (the only time it fully makes sense)

Let’s be real… matching at the beach just hits different.

Hair is salty
Kids are sandy
No one is standing still

So the outfits need to:

  • be comfy
  • be easy
  • survive snacks, water & chaos

This is where relaxed matching works best.

Throw on:

  • an oversized tee
  • loose shorts or flares
  • your mini in something they can actually move in

Done.

No overthinking required.

Why we love matching (but don’t take it too seriously)

For us, it’s never been about looking perfect.

It’s those random moments like:

  • walking to the beach together
  • post surf snacks in the car
  • your kid insisting on wearing the same tee as you for 3 days straight

That’s the stuff that actually matters.

Not the perfectly styled photo.

The “don’t do this” list 😅

Just to keep it real:

❌ Don’t force your kids into outfits they hate
❌ Don’t over-style it
❌ Don’t make it your whole personality

Matching should feel fun… not like a chore.

Our take on it (aka how we actually do it)

We design everything to be worn however you want.

If you match… cute.
If you don’t… also cute.

Our pieces are made to:

  • throw on after a surf
  • wear on school runs
  • live in every day

Matching just happens naturally when you’re grabbing from the same pile.

Matching outfits aren’t the identity.

They’re just a moment.

A fun one… a chaotic one… sometimes a “wait this actually looks good” one.

And if you never match?

You’re still doing it right.
