Every surf brand has a story but not all of them start in a little coastal home with sand constantly on the floor and kids running around in wetsuits. Ours does.
Barefoot and Salty started with a simple idea. We wanted to create something that felt like home. Something that captured the magic of coastal living and the chaos of family life all rolled into one. We didn’t want to build a brand that just looked surfy we wanted to live it breathe it and share it.
It all began right here on the Sunshine Coast. This is where we surf skate create and dream. The beach is our backyard the ocean is our happy place and most of our business meetings happen barefoot with a coffee in hand and a salty breeze in the air. That’s how it’s always been and that’s how we like it.
When we first started we had no big fancy plan. Just a couple of designs a whole lot of heart and an idea to make clothing that actually felt like the coast. We write thank you notes on the lounge floor we packed orders around nap times and we posted parcels between surf sessions. Slowly things grew. People connected with what we were doing because it was real.
Our community became the heartbeat of it all. Mums dads groms surfers dreamers and salty souls from all over started joining in. Every order meant something. Every message from a happy customer made the late nights worth it. We realised this wasn’t just a brand anymore it was a family.
As we grew we stayed true to what matters most. Quality that lasts designs that tell a story and a vibe that makes you smile the second you open your parcel. Every item that leaves our little coastal studio is made with care. Our clothing and balance boards aren’t churned out in big factories they’re created by real people who love what they do.
We’ve now shipped to over fifty countries which still blows our minds. Our little Aussie surf brand that started with a few shirts on the Sunshine Coast is now part of homes all around the world. It’s wild. But no matter how far we go our roots will always stay right here in the salt and sunshine.
What makes us proud isn’t just how far the brand has reached it’s how many people it’s touched. We’ve seen families balancing together on our boards friends rocking our hoodies in the lineup and people from other countries saying our gear reminds them of their favourite summer by the ocean. That’s everything to us.
Barefoot and Salty isn’t run by suits or investors. It’s run by us a surf loving family chasing a dream and raising our girls by the sea. Every decision comes from the heart. Every design has meaning. And every single thing we create is made to bring you a bit of that Sunshine Coast feeling wherever you are.
Our goal has always been simple. Stay real stay salty and keep spreading that Aussie surf spirit to the world. Because no matter how big we grow we’ll always be that little surf family from the coast making magic out of sand and sunshine.
